Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top well-known actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters who are as vulnerable. Born to a renowned playwright father, but raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, first at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years after graduation she began her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut on the world of film and television. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television programs since. Throughout her career, she has received several awards. Some of them comprise 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations.
